MSC World America
When it debuts in spring 2025, the 6,762-passenger MSC World America will become MSC Cruises' second World Class ship to join the fleet and the first in the class dedicated to the U.S. market.
Sailing in the Caribbean, MSC World America will also be the line's largest cruise ship in the U.S., measuring 22 decks tall and more than 150 feet wide, with more than 2,600 cabins and 420,000 square feet of public space.
In a first for MSC, the ship will be divided into seven different zones including a family district, tranquil chill out area and colorful promenade. While these spaces can be found on other ships in the fleet, the move will give MSC World America more clearly defined areas, enabling passengers to get the most out of their time onboard.
Each district features its own atmosphere and facilities. Family Aventura, located on the ship's top deck is centered around The Harbor outdoor park which includes a high ropes course, a playground inspired by the lighthouse at MSC's private island Ocean Cay and a yet to be announced attraction that MSC says will be the first of its kind at sea. Family Aventura also includes the Doremiland kids' area with age-appropriate activities for from babies to teens.
The adult-only Zen Area, located high up at the back of the ship lies, is relaxing outdoor space with two pools, cocktail service and soothing music. The ship's two main pools are located on the livelier Aqua Deck, which host upbeat entertainment and parties at night. Staying outside, the reimagined Promenade will feature a coffee bar, drink and dining options and evening activities such as LED light shows. At its center will be the spiral architecture of the 11-deck dry slide which ends in the Promenade district.
The Terraces, a mix of indoor and outdoor venues, will be an entertainment and dining district with nine restaurants and bars, shops and all-new comedy club that will also host dueling pianos and late-night DJ sets and karaoke. The all-day area will include a juice bar and five specialty restaurants serving global cuisine.
Inside, the heart of MSC World America will be the Galleria. In common with the indoor promenade on other MSC vessels, it will be lined with shops, restaurants and bars and topped by a long LED ceiling with changing displays. Outlets include the Dolce Vita Bar, a live music venue, Jean Philippe Chocolat & Cafe and grab-and-go Luna Park Pizza & Burger. Also part of this district is MSC Luna Park Arena, a high-tech entertainment venue hosting themed parties and gameshows.
The seventh district is MSC's signature ship-within-a-ship MSC Yacht Club. The private enclave, separate from the rest of the ship and with keycard entry, includes a lounge, dining area and outdoor deck. Perks for Yacht Club passengers include 24-hour butler service priority embarkation and disembarkation.
MSC World America Will Offer Multiple Dining and Bar Options Plus New Venues
The six specialty restaurants on MSC World America will include two new concepts -- still under wraps -- alongside existing favorites Butcher's Cut steakhouse, Kaito Sushi and Teppanyaki, and Hola! Tacos and Cantina. Elsewhere, there will be four main restaurants, two buffets and fast food outlets.
Also new for MSC World America is the Sports Bar, combining sports memorabilia, technology, and entertainment, with other new concepts being announced at a later date. The 20 bars and lounges will include venues introduced on sister ship MSC World Europa, such as the Gin Project craft gin bar and Elixir - Mixology Bar and an onboard micro-brewery. Elsewhere, there will be MSC favorites including the Masters of the Sea pub.
There will be three entertainment venues, with all-new live entertainment and theater shows, a total of six pools and 14 hot tubs and a waterpark with slides that include a VR experience.
Full details of the cabins have not yet been released by MSC, but the line says the 2,614 staterooms and suites will include Infinite Ocean View cabins, balcony cabins that overlook the outdoor World Promenade and connecting family staterooms.
Specifically tailored to appeal to passengers from North America, MSC World America will become the fourth new flagship to be deployed in the region and MSC says it will blend American comfort with European design.
MSC World America to Feature Fleet's Largest Kids Club & New Lego Experiences
Within the Family Aventura district, Doremiland kids' area will span more than 10,000 square feet across seven rooms, with rooms for the different ages groups, from 0 to 17 years.
A slew of new experiences will be available — some in partnership with Lego — including a Lego Parade, with Lego characters paraded through the ship from Family Adventura to the World Promenade, once per cruise.
A new Lego Family Zone is a space for families to play and build with Lego bricks; the Lego Game Show will feature timed challenges to determine a winner; Boxes is another family game show that will see participants take on bling challenges to win prizes; and the Doremix Family Disco will invite parents/carers and children to dance together with participants vying for the title of best dancer. New for teens is Star Shooters, an adventure course in the Sportplex.
MSC World America Will Feature Environmental and Energy-Saving Technology
Under construction at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in France, the vessel will be equipped with similar fuel-cell technology powered by liquefied natural gas, which was first featured on sister World Class ship MSC World Europa. In partnership with the shipyard, MSC World America has been designed with an innovative hull shape to minimize resistance through the water.
It also will incorporate a wide range of equipment to optimize energy use throughout the ship, including "smart" ventilation and advanced air conditioning systems coupled with automated energy recovery loops, allowing effective distribution of heat and cold across the ship. The ship uses LED lighting throughout, also controlled by "smart" management systems to further enhance the energy-saving profile.
When is MSC World America's Launch Date?
The vessel will have its naming ceremony on April 9, 2025, at MSC's new terminal in PortMiami. The ship will then sail an overnight to MSC's private island, Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve. The first sailing with paying passengers will be April 12, 2025.
